Manchester United vs Burnley ended on a scoreline of 2-2 and was the first occasion when Solskjaer team had a result other than win. It was a classic Premier League match where the host dominated most of the game, but somehow it was Burnley who kept looking the more comfortable side.
Solskjaer decided to rotate some of his players which eventually lead to the performance degradation. Martial picked up a knock and hence Lukaku started in the middle with Rashford moving out wide. Lingard and Herrera were both rested, and replaced by Mata and Pereira respectively.
Luke Shaw who missed the last league game due to illness was reinstated at the left back position. While Jones took over from Bailly who played against Arsenal in the FA Cup.

Manchester United vs Burnley in the past two-three seasons have always been a tough fixture. Burnley is know to be defensively very well
Mata who was given the free flowing role like that of Lingard was making some great runs but, the two times he got the ball in position he could score, he was declared offside. First half ended with both team unable to break the deadlock.
Manchester United came out much more determined in the second half and
It was the first time Manchester United were trailing under Solskjaer and it seemed that the fairy tale beginning was to end. However. United started to reach the opposition half much more after that but again was greeted with some brilliant defending from Burnley. Someway or another, at least one Burnley player was always present and the right position, if not more.
Solskjaer loooked at his bench and brought on Alexis and Lingard in place of Pereira and Lukaku. Lingard’s immediately improved the team but again out of nowhere it was Burnley who scored the second goal of the night. 81 minutes gone, Manchester United were two goal down.
Solskjaer has taken Manchester United out of such situation during his playing career number of times and it was really exciting to see if he could inflict the same instinct in his team as well.
Manchester United kept on attacking and were finally awarded a penalty when Lingard was brought down in the box. Pogba made no mistake from the spot and United had a lifeline in the 87th minute.
Fast forward to the 92nd minute and United got the equalizer after a deflection from Heaton was blasted in by Lindelof. With three minutes of injury time to go, the Old Trafford stadium was buzzing as it was a classic Manchester United performance. However the third goal didn’t come in, and the match ended on 2-2.
It was Burnley’s orgaised defence and their goalkeeper who kept them in the game, while it was the character which United shown which lead to their comeback.
David DeGea: Could hardly do anything for the goals conceeded. Saved a powerful shot and otherwise had really less involvement in the game. => 6
Ashley Young: He had always been good going forward, but today was a waste. His crosses were rarely reaching the United players and he could have offered much more down the right wing. => 4
Lindelof: Brilliant again, was good in the air, on his feet and on the ball. Scored the equilizer in the extra time and continues to impress with every game. => 8
Phil Jones: Improved performance, could have done better for the first goal. Was booed the entire game. =>5
Luke Shaw: Looked promising both defending and while on attack. Had some great combination with Pogba on the left side. => 6

Andreas Pereira: Looked out of place, made that sloppy error and was rattled eversince. Found hard to fill Herera’s position who has been very good recently. => 3
Matic: Tried controlling the midfield and kept the position with the team but missed the stability provided from Herera => 5
Pogba: Scored the penalty and had some decent chances which could have been taken better. Could not replicate the recent form. =>6
Mata: Although the movement was good, could not provide the pace and aggression which Lingard brings to the team. Shown yellow card as well. =>4
Lukaku: Got his first league start under Solskjaer but could justify the selection. Rarely won the long balls and except that chance for Rashford was rarely involved emphatically. =>5
Rashford: Missed a one-on-one in the first few minutes of the game. Never looked comfortable on the left wing and seems its Martial and Lingard who take out the best in him. => 4
Lingard and Alexis: Lingard won the penality which started United’s comeback while Alexis looked threating in some position but missed way to many passes for the time he was their on the pitch.
Manchester United vs Burnley ended up bringing out the flaws that still exist in this United side. However, it also highlighted the courage is still there to come back from behind. Solskjaer had a tough day and would certainly go back to his usual front three in the next game at the weekend.
