Another commanding performance from Manchester United ensured that they finished 2018 on a winning note. Manchester United vs Bournemouth saw four goals that takes up the tally to 12 under Solskjær and three wins out of three for him. It was not a perfect performance but seeing the season under Jose so far, everybody for sure can say they have improved a lot.

Firstly, the team saw Bailly, Herera and Martial come in for Jones, Fred and Mata respectively which overall improved the team quality. Martial was out sick in the last match and under no circumstances he should be left of the team and that’s what happened. United scored in the 4th minute itself after deadly Rashford run which was finished by Pogba. He went on to score again from a header taking his tally to 4 goals in three matches Solskjær. The third one came in from Rashford after Martial put in a ball in the box.

Bournemouth got one back with a header from Ake right at half time mark. They troubled United from every set piece, successfully found someone at end of those and mostly every one saw that one coming. The game went into the halftime with the scoreline at 3-1.

As expected from Howe, who never backs down, Bournemouth came strong in the second half and had the game in control for quite some time before Lukaku eventually scored the 4th, with Pogba assisting this one. It was an important goal in the game and for Lukaku himself, who has been on a purple patch and needed to show something to the new manager as his place as of now is surely been taken by Rashford.

Just as when the game was looking dead and done, a reckless challenge from Bailly resulted in getting him a straight red and possibly a three match ban. United had to substitute Martial and bring on Jones so as to close down the game in the last 10 minutes. Eric Bailly is a wonderful defender but every now and then he comes up with challenges like these which results in giving trouble to the team. He really needs to calm down a bit.

Matic was good and Herera provided more stability in the midfield compared to Fred in the last game. The defenders were pretty comfortable in the open play and DeGea was good as always and there was very little which he could have done to prevent that only goal from Bournemouth. Lingard and Martial did there bit as expected and were always at the right place at the right time.

What the team still needs work upon is the defensive part as for all games under the new manager although the team has scored goals but they are yet to keep a clean sheet. With those players going forward it’s easy as of now just go out and outscore your opposition but eventually Manchester United will have to strengthen at the back for the top teams.

Manchester United vs Bournemouth stats

The major positives from the game were Pogba & Rashford .Paul Pogba showed what he is capable off if allowed the freedom to go forward and as far as Rashford is concerned, he has been our best player in past one or two months and the work rate he has been putting in on the field has been simply outstanding. Overall Manchester United was far better than Bournemouth today in every department and with that win they are just three points away from Arsenal at 5th position.

Solskjær’s funda of attack the game, high tempo, high energy and win the ball as soon as you loose it is what has changed the way this team is playing now. Yes people would say he had easy game but Manchester United are on the right track and eventually he will have his chance to prove against Spurs on 13th January but before that it is Newcastle away on Wednesday.
